Asan City, Buyeo County, Cheongyang County, and Yesan County Apply
On April 22, the Chungnam Provincial Government announced that it would focus its administrative resources on responding to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "2025 Our Neighborhood Revitalization Urban Regeneration Project" public contest.
According to the provincial government, Asan City, Buyeo County, Cheongyang County, and Yesan County have expressed their intention to participate in the contest and completed their applications on April 17. Since February, the province has been working with the Chungnam Urban Regeneration Support Center and a panel of experts to identify and consult on projects tailored to the specific conditions of each region.
This contest aims to quickly provide community-oriented public facilities to small-scale, low-rise residential areas that have lost vitality due to population outflow and aging buildings, thereby improving the residential environment.
Asan City applied for vacant house maintenance and the creation of a walking trail in Onju Village; Buyeo County applied for alleyway environment improvement and the creation of rest areas in Eunsan Village; Cheongyang County applied for the creation of pedestrian-friendly streets and a senior digital platform in Jeongsan Village; and Yesan County applied for a house repair project linked to alleyways in Changso Village.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will select around 10 locations nationwide. The project budget is up to 8.3 billion won (including both national and local government funding), and the project period is four years, until 2026. The final selections will be announced in June after a document review, on-site evaluation, and presentation assessment.
A provincial official stated, "We will spare no effort to ensure that all four cities and counties are selected."
