Spreading Disability Empathy Culture,
Raising Awareness and Understanding of Disabilities

The Chungnam Provincial Office of Education held the "45th Disability Day Commemoration Disability Empathy Experience Event" on the morning of the 17th at the first-floor Antteulak of the education office to promote the spread of disability empathy culture and improve awareness about disabilities.
In addition, the provincial office of education designated the six days surrounding the 45th Disability Day until the 20th as "Disability Empathy Week," and is conducting various disability empathy experience events under the theme "With Respect, Not Difference; With Empathy, Not Distinction."
At the Disability Day Commemoration Disability Empathy Experience Event, a variety of cultural performances took place, including a Korean traditional music performance by Lee Jiwon, a folk song artist from the Sejong City Office of Education’s arts group, and a performance by "On Ensemble," the first public institution-based ensemble composed of individuals with developmental disabilities.
There was also an exhibition featuring a variety of products made by students from Yesan Kkumbit School, a special school enterprise, drawing attention as a sharing event.

At the Asan City Welfare Center for the Disabled, various experience and cultural programs were held, including a digital wheelchair experience that synchronizes with an actual wheelchair for greater immersion, wheelchair basketball, and an exhibition of artworks by individuals with developmental disabilities, together with welfare center staff.
Kim Jicheol, Superintendent of Chungnam Education, said, "We will further strengthen special education support so that students with disabilities can fully realize their potential and grow as confident members of society."
