21 Learning Support Tutors Deployed to 13 Schools
Supplementing Basic Skills and Providing Customized Lessons

The Gwangju Office of Education will deploy dedicated math learning support tutors to middle and high schools with the goal of creating "schools without Supoja" (students who give up on math).

The Office announced on the 17th that it will operate the "Learning Support Tutor Program" until December to improve basic math skills and bridge learning gaps.

This program is a customized support initiative aimed at helping students struggling with math. The Office selected 13 middle and high schools that requested tutor support and provided funding for the salaries of a total of 21 learning support tutors.

Each selected school is required to assign at least one dedicated math tutor, and some schools will also operate additional tutors for other subjects such as Korean and English. Tutors are directly recruited by each school through public announcements and may include certified teachers, pre-service teachers, or individuals with experience in educational guidance.

Tutors provide personalized instruction based on students' learning levels and collaborate with subject teachers through various methods, including setting up study plans before and after class, guiding assignments, and offering emotional mentoring. During the summer vacation, basic skills supplementary classes will be conducted in one-on-one or small group formats.

In addition, online learning support activities using the Office's basic skills support platform "Bae-I-Seu-Camp" will be carried out in parallel.

The Office expects that this program will help students improve their basic math skills and confidence, leading to enhanced mathematical thinking and creativity.
