Daegu Daegun High School (Principal Jung Sangseok) hosted the 'International Exchange Program and Global Dream Camp' from the 14th to the 16th, inviting 15 participants including 12 high school students and 3 accompanying teachers from Democracy Prep Public Schools, a public school in New York, USA, for a three-day, two-night event.
This program was designed not only to help students from both countries understand each other's cultures and foster global citizenship, but also to inspire entrepreneurial spirit through career exploration in future advanced digital technologies and experiencing global startup culture using AI technology. Additionally, the program focused on emotional recovery for students affected by digital overload through edutainment and music/art-based experiential activities.

On the 14th, the American delegation first visited the Nakdong River Victory Memorial Hall, reflected on the historical significance of the Korean War, and learned about the importance of peace by empathizing with the pain of war through VR experiences. In the afternoon, they explored Seomun Market, a representative traditional market in Daegu, and Dongseong-ro, experiencing both Korea's traditional market culture and modern culture, including K-POP.
On the second day, the 15th, Daegun High School held a welcoming ceremony for the Democracy Prep delegation. Afterwards, they participated in an 'AI-based English class for cultural exchange' taught by Daegun High School teacher Jang Hyungap, actively communicating in English through various AI-based activities and exploring each other's cultures. In the afternoon, they wore Hanbok and learned etiquette, gaining a closer and deeper understanding of Korean traditional culture.
Especially, during the 'Global Dream Camp' held that afternoon, students from Hamseong Middle School in Gyeongnam, Seongdang Middle School in Daegu, Hyoseong Middle School, and Seonmyeong School (special school) joined, collaborating as a hub Bizcool school with other local schools. Together with Daegun High School students and the American delegation, they formed teams to develop and present global startup ideas using AI technology, demonstrating the participation of the local educational community in international exchange.
On the last day of the camp, the 16th, a 'Goodbye Event' was held, providing students from both countries an opportunity to share their experiences, strengthen friendships, and build international networks.
Park Jongpil, the supervising teacher, stated, "This program was an opportunity for students to understand and respect different cultures and develop a global mindset. In particular, it was a valuable time to learn creativity and cooperation through maker activities and the process of developing startup ideas."
Principal Jung Sangseok of Daegun High School said, "I hope this visit by American students has become a meaningful opportunity for students from both countries to develop understanding and respect for each other. We will continue to provide broader global educational opportunities for our students through ongoing international exchanges."
