The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 16th that it had signed a business agreement for the development of consortium-type specialized high schools with three schools?Daejeon Life Science High School, Daejeon Girls' Commercial High School, and Yuseong Life Science High School?as well as Daejeon City, local companies and universities participating in the consortium, and related organizations at the main conference room of the Office of Education's annex.


Consortium-type specialized high schools are specialized high schools that realize customized education tailored to regional needs through agreements between the Office of Education, local governments, companies, and specialized high schools, in order to nurture talent in special industrial fields and regional-based industries required by the region and the nation.


This year, for the Ministry of Education's public contest to select specialized high schools, Daejeon Life Science High School and Yuseong Life Science High School will compete in the bio field, while Daejeon Girls' Commercial High School will compete in the business intelligence field.


Last year, Chungnam Technical High School was selected in the defense industry field and is currently in operation.


The Ministry of Education plans to select around 10 consortium-type specialized high schools this year, and schools selected as consortium-type specialized high schools can receive government support ranging from 3.5 billion to 4.5 billion KRW.


Superintendent Seol Dongho said, "Through today's agreement, I hope this will serve as a great opportunity for our students to grow into outstanding talents who contribute to the development of society and the nation, along with the growth of Daejeon."
