Gyeonggi-do Ansan City is set to actively promote the improvement project for aging infrastructure in island areas such as Daebudo, Pungdo, and Yukdo.

To this end, the city explained that it will establish a five-year plan from next year until 2030 for the entire Daebudo and the fishing villages of Pungdo and Yukdo, preparing an annual roadmap and implementation measures to systematically promote the projects.
According to the plan, the city will invest 16.5 billion KRW in three locations within Daebudo?Seongam Port, Tando Port, and Heulgot Port?to build a fishing village shared center and create a cargo wharf within this year, modernizing outdated infrastructure and promoting development that considers local characteristics as well as strengthening residents' capabilities. At Haengnang-gok Port, where seaweed farms are concentrated in Daebudo, the city will expand the insufficient mooring facilities.
In the case of Pungdo, the city will invest 4.5 billion KRW, secured through national, provincial, and city funds after being selected in January last year for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' 'Fishing Village New Vitality Promotion Project' contest, to carry out residential environment improvement projects by next year. The detailed projects include ▲straightening the pier ▲expanding the hinterland area ▲changing the form of the breakwater ▲simplifying the hinterland facilities ▲installing convenience facilities at the passenger ship terminal. During the project implementation, the city will also establish a 20-space parking lot within Pungdo Port, a long-standing wish of Pungdo residents.
At Yukdo Port, a 50-meter multi-functional complex floating pier and a 22.5-meter connecting road will be installed by next year.
For the convenience of tourists, the city also plans to increase passenger ship services traveling between Pungdo and Yukdo. From May to October, an additional passenger ship will operate once weekly on Fridays through Sundays and public holidays, connecting Bangameori Port with Pungdo and Yukdo.
Baek Jong-seon, head of Ansan City's Daebu Marine Headquarters, said, "We will continuously improve the residential environment of island areas by attracting young fishermen to fishing villages and expanding infrastructure."
