Realizing a Future Sangju Full of Life and Energy

Sangju City in North Gyeongsang Province has presented a blueprint for transitioning to a carbon-neutral society.

Sangju Holds Final Report Meeting on 'Carbon Neutral Green Growth Master Plan' Sangju City, Gyeongbuk, is holding the final report meeting for the establishment of the Carbon Neutral Green Growth Basic Plan.

On the 15th, Sangju City held the 'Final Report Meeting for the Establishment of the Carbon Neutral Green Growth Master Plan' in the main conference room of City Hall, sharing greenhouse gas reduction strategies and mid- to long-term directions that reflect the region's unique characteristics.

The Carbon Neutral Green Growth Master Plan is a legally mandated plan established and implemented every five years in connection with national and North Gyeongsang Province master plans. This report meeting marks the final stage in systematically organizing Sangju City's carbon-neutral policies and preparing practical implementation measures.

Considering that the agriculture and livestock sectors are the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions, while the region is rich in renewable energy resources such as wind and solar power, the city set the vision of a "Carbon-neutral Future Sangju Full of Life and Energy."

In particular, the city set concrete targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 48.8% by 2030 and by 50% by 2034 compared to 2018 levels.

Sangju City plans to incorporate feedback gathered at this report meeting and finalize the master plan by May, submitting it to the Ministry of Environment. Afterward, the city will conduct annual implementation reviews to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of the plan.

Mayor Kang Youngseok of Sangju stated, "This plan is a practical starting point toward carbon neutrality," adding, "We will spare no administrative support to lead the transition to a sustainable city."
