Cheongyang Liriope Harvest in Full Swing... Helps Boost Immunity in Spring

Cheongyang Liriope Harvest in Full Swing... Helps Boost Immunity in Spring Harvesting of Liriope / Cheongyang County

As immunity tends to decrease and respiratory diseases increase during the spring season, the herbal medicine Maekmundong is gaining attention for its effectiveness in promoting bronchial health.

According to Cheongyang County in Chungnam Province on the 15th, Maekmundong is known to help prevent respiratory diseases caused by yellow dust and fine particulate matter, as it has the effect of moisturizing the lungs and bronchi.

Containing saponin components, it is effective not only in preventing colds but also in treating tuberculosis, bronchitis, and pharyngitis, and it also has anti-cancer and anti-diabetic properties.

Cheongyang, the main production area of Maekmundong, has begun full-scale harvesting this month. The county expects this year's harvest to increase compared to last year, which saw low yields due to low temperatures and rainfall during winter.

Recently, Maekmundong has been gaining popularity not only as a medicinal herb but also for landscaping purposes, and a variety of processed products such as roasted tea and liquid sticks are being released.

A county official said, "Since harvest yields can vary greatly depending on climate and soil conditions, basic management such as soil testing and crop rotation is important," adding, "We will support stable production in cooperation with local farmers."
