In the past three years, there have been a total of 137 water leisure equipment accidents, with 80% of them caused by lack of equipment inspection (87 cases) and careless operation (23 cases), mostly due to insufficient safety awareness among users. Regular inspections are necessary to prevent simple drifting accidents from escalating into major secondary accidents such as collisions or groundings.

This free inspection is open to everyone through advance reservation or on-site registration on the day, and the Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority and local specialized repair companies will cooperate to inspect key items such as batteries and coolant.

In addition, a campaign to promote a culture of marine safety will be held to raise safety awareness among water leisure participants, prevent drifting accidents caused by simple engine failures, and provide safety education for individuals unfamiliar with the equipment.

Kim Giyong, Chief of Yeosu Maritime Police Station, said, "To prevent marine accidents caused by poor equipment management and careless operation, we hope you will enjoy safe marine leisure by conducting pre-departure equipment inspections."
