Dong-Eui University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation Signs MOU with Busan St. Mary's Hospital

Educational Program Development and Operation
for Medically Vulnerable Groups in Busan,
a Super-Aged Society

The Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation of Dong-Eui University (Director: Kim Sunghee) and Busan St. Mary's Hospital (Director: Koo Soogwon) signed a business agreement on the 10th at the main conference room of Busan St. Mary's Hospital to foster convergence talents in the humanities and social sciences and to promote the development of related local industries.

The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Sunghee, Director of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation at Dong-Eui University, Yoon Hyekyung, Head of the HUSS Project Group, Cho Youngman, Director of Planning at Busan St. Mary's Hospital, Park Jaebeom, Administrative Vice President, and other officials.


This agreement is part of the "Fostering Region-Based Conflict Mediation Convergence Talents to Bridge the Digital Divide" program, which is a sub-project of the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project in which Dong-Eui University participates. Through the agreement, the two institutions will cooperate on: △ joint promotion of the convergence talent development project in the humanities and social sciences △ development and operation of educational programs aimed at resolving local community conflicts △ research and sharing of equipment and information in the field of health and safety △ mutual cooperation in job experience, field training, and employment linkage.


In particular, the two institutions plan to jointly develop and promote educational programs in connection with the "Mobile Medical Bus" operated by Busan St. Mary's Hospital, targeting medically vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and low-income individuals. These programs will include △ health information communication education △ counseling and content development to improve digital information accessibility △ convergence education focusing on health and safety, such as infection and general health.


Kim Sunghee, Director of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation at Dong-Eui University, stated, "This agreement will serve as a leading model for universities to connect education with addressing real local issues and finding solutions," and added, "We will present a convergence solution where digital technology and healthcare meet in Busan, a super-aged society."


Cho Youngman, Director of Planning at Busan St. Mary's Hospital, emphasized the intention for cooperation, saying, "Through field-based programs such as mobile medical services, we will provide practical help to neighbors with poor access to medical information."


Dong-Eui University is participating in the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project (HUSS) consortium, which is led by Dongguk University and includes Catholic University, Woosong University, and Jeonju University, with the goal of building an inclusive society to overcome various conflicts.
