Human Resource Development and Network Enhancement for Contracting Countries

The Korea Rail Network Authority announced on the 11th that it invited four officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation of El Salvador and conducted a six-day, five-night training program on Korean railway technology starting from the 6th.

This training was organized as part of the "Feasibility Study Project for the Construction of the El Salvador Pacific Railway," a total length of 150 km connecting San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador, to the Pacific coast. This project was selected as an Official Development Assistance (ODA) project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

They also experienced the excellence of Korean railway technology firsthand by riding the Metropolitan Express Railway (GTX) Line A, and touring major domestic railway facilities including the Railway Traffic Control Center and Sinjeong Vehicle Depot.

Alba Nunez, Director of Cooperation at the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation of El Salvador, said, "This training helped us enhance our understanding of overall railway infrastructure development," adding, "We hope that continuous cooperation between the two countries will lead to the successful continuation of follow-up projects."

Lee Seong-hae, President of the Korea Rail Network Authority, stated, "We hope this training served as a good opportunity for El Salvador railway officials to understand the excellence of K-rail," and added, "We will continue to strengthen our network not only with the contracting country but also with neighboring countries in Latin America to establish a foundation for securing various overseas projects."
