Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province has completed a safety improvement project on the Han River bicycle path.

According to Hanam City on the 8th, the approximately 13.5 km bicycle path stretching from Seondong, adjacent to Seoul, through Misadong to Paldang Bridge has long faced safety concerns due to some sharp curves and deteriorated road conditions. In response, Hanam City completed the construction at the end of March after about four months of maintenance, creating an environment where citizens can use bicycles more safely.

Additionally, in sections where pedestrian and bicycle traffic overlap, warning signs and information boards were newly installed to prevent collisions between walkers and bicycle path users in advance. This measure is significant as it goes beyond simple facility maintenance and represents a community-focused transportation infrastructure improvement project designed with citizens' safety as the top priority.

The convenience of bicycle users was also taken into consideration. Near the Seondong IC sports facilities, a bicycle rest area equipped with benches and bicycle racks was established so that citizens can enjoy cycling in a more comfortable environment.

Mayor Lee Hyun-jae stated, “This improvement project was carried out to enable citizens who want to use bicycles as a daily means of transportation to use the roads more safely and conveniently. We will continue to promote various infrastructure expansions and safety measures to increase bicycle usage so that Hanam City can firmly establish itself as a truly bicycle-friendly city.”
