'Cheonan-style Bicycle Trail 300-ri': Seungcheoncheon Melon Road Completed

Cheonan City in Chungnam announced on the 8th that with the completion of the Seungcheoncheon Melon Road, the 'Cheonan-style 300-ri Bicycle Trail' project has achieved an 87% progress rate.

The Melon Road, with a total investment of 1.8 billion won, is an 11.8 km route connecting Balsan-ri in Susin-myeon and Singye-ri in Mokcheon-eup.

The bicycle trail is one of Mayor Park Sangdon's pledges for the 8th popularly elected administration, aiming to connect bicycle paths in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and the Chungcheong region to establish a nationwide cross-country bicycle route.

With a total project budget of approximately 18 billion won, the city has completed 105 km out of the planned 121 km for the 300-ri route.

Once the budget is secured through this year's supplementary budget and the Pungseocheon Walnut Road (16.8 km), scheduled for next year, is completed, the 300-ri bicycle trail will be finished.

The trail follows Cheonan's major streams, themed around local specialties and natural scenery, with each route reflecting the city's unique character and seasonal charm.

The route starts at Seongseong Lake Park and circles Cheonan along the main streams of the city, including Seonghwancheon Eulalia Road, Ipjangcheon Grape Road, Busomunyi Road, Bukmyeon Cherry Blossom Road, Byeongcheoncheon Cucumber Road, Seungcheoncheon Melon Road, and Independence Hall Road.

Mayor Park Sangdon said, "By linking the bicycle trail with the national cross-country bicycle route, we are establishing a bicycle transportation network accessible from anywhere in the country," and added, "We will do our best to make Cheonan, the transportation hub, the central city for bicycle transportation."
