Machang Bridge Shines in Social Contribution ... Wins Minister of Health and Welfare Award at Korea Top Management Awards

Machangdaegyo Co., Ltd. was selected as an outstanding institution for social contribution at the '2025 Korea Best Management Awards Ceremony' and received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.


The Korea Best Management Awards is an annual ceremony that evaluates and awards companies or organizations that have achieved excellent results through outstanding management strategies, and is recognized as an indicator of successful management strategies externally.


Machangdaegyo is managed and operated by Macquarie Korea Infrastructure Fund (MKIF), which actively participates in sustainable management as the major shareholder. Since July 1, 2008, it has managed and operated a 1.7 km sea bridge connecting Gapo-dong in Masanhappo-gu and Gwisandong in Seongsan-gu, Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do.


To ensure the safety of the bridge, which is used by an average of 46,000 vehicles per day, and to enhance user convenience, additional suicide prevention facilities have been installed, along with fire extinguishing equipment, various safety signs, road crossing prevention barriers, speed control facilities, and emergency broadcasting systems.


Joint drills with relevant agencies are also conducted frequently to prepare for natural disasters such as typhoons, heavy rain, strong winds, earthquakes, as well as traffic and maritime accidents.

In addition, since the opening of the bridge, the company has joined the "Love Fruit Sharing Honor Company" and has made regular donations of over 100 million KRW for three years, provided scholarships to 50 local elementary, middle, and high school students, and supported medical expenses for low-income families.


Since 2015, the company has been collaborating with Changwon City on mutual growth projects, making regular annual donations to social welfare facilities for people with disabilities, single mothers, and youth.


To support the settlement and welfare improvement of immigrants in the Gyeongnam region, the company has also been making annual donations of 10 million KRW to the Gyeongnam Migrant Workers Welfare Center.


In recognition of these contributions, Machangdaegyo previously received the Minister of Strategy and Finance Award in the National Sustainable Management category in 2002, as well as the Gyeongnam Governor's Award for Neighborly Love.


CEO Kim Seonghwan said, "Winning the Minister of Health and Welfare Award is a great achievement that recognizes our company's social contribution activities externally," and added, "We will continue to strive to enhance customer convenience through safer and more pleasant road operations."
