Deposit and Rent Exempted
Up to 2 Years of Residency Possible
Applications Accepted from the 9th to 11th
All Households Expected to Move In by April
Andong City, North Gyeongsang Province, will provide emergency support by offering 74 units of public rental housing to disaster victims who lost their homes in the large-scale wildfire that occurred last March.
The housing to be provided this time consists of three complexes owned by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH): 47 units in Okdong Jugong Complex 6, 20 units in Songhyeon Jugong Complex 3, and 7 units in Unheung-dong Cheonnyeonnamu Happy Housing. Residents are only required to pay the maintenance fee, with no deposit or monthly rent. The basic residency period is six months, extendable up to two years.
Eligible applicants are disaster victims who have reported wildfire damage and expressed their intention to move in at the local administrative welfare center. Victims who missed the initial application can apply from the 9th to the 11th at the town or township administrative welfare centers, the Andong City Population Policy Division, or the Central Joint Support Center.
Andong City will select residents based on criteria such as household size and desired period of stay, with plans to complete the move-in process for all households within April.
The city is also implementing various housing support measures in parallel, such as installing temporary modular homes and providing temporary accommodation using facilities like the Humanities Spirit Training Center, Youth Training Center, and lodging facilities.
Andong Mayor Kwon Ki-chang said, "We expect that this emergency support of public rental housing will help stabilize the housing situation for disaster victims who lost their homes due to the wildfire and greatly assist them in returning to their daily lives as soon as possible," adding, "We will do our utmost to support recovery and protect the disaster victims."
