Silla University Department of Social Welfare Holds Volunteer Workshop

The Department of Social Welfare at Silla University (President: Heo Namsik) successfully held the '2025 Volunteer Workshop'.

The Department of Social Welfare at Silla University conducted the workshop on the 3rd at the Humanities Building, aiming to help freshmen understand the core values of volunteering and explore ways to collaborate with social welfare institutions for continuous social welfare practice.

The workshop was attended not only by students of the Department of Social Welfare at Silla University, but also by Jeong Seungmyeong, Manager at Dongnae-gu Senior Welfare Center, Kim Minyoung, Social Worker at Sajik Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and Shin Hyunsu, Social Worker at Busan Youth Comprehensive Support Center, as well as other representatives from social welfare facilities operated by Silla University. They provided various advice and introduced their organizations to the freshmen.

On this day, a special lecture titled "Seeds of Change! Volunteering!" was delivered by Lee Jinhui, Team Leader at Sasang-gu Volunteer Center, vividly conveying the meaning and role of volunteering and drawing enthusiastic responses from the participants.

In addition, through programs such as presentations on volunteering case studies and various methods of volunteer activities, freshmen in the Department of Social Welfare showed great enthusiasm for their studies and a strong will to put volunteering into practice.

Bang Hyerim, a fourth-year student in the Department of Social Welfare who presented a volunteering case study, said, "It was a meaningful time to share the valuable experiences I gained in the field of volunteering with my juniors," and added, "I hope not only freshmen but also many students will actively participate in volunteering, develop their capabilities as future social workers, and join in creating a warmer society."

Jung Sujeong, Head of the Department of Social Welfare at Silla University, stated, "The annual volunteer workshop, in which graduates and local social welfare centers participate together, is an important event that provides practical motivation to freshmen," and added, "We will continue to provide education that fosters social welfare expertise based on voices from the field."
