Approval of the 21st Presidential Election Commission Formation Plan
On the 7th, the People Power Party appointed former Emergency Response Committee Chairman Hwang Woo-yeo as the election commission chairman to manage the party primary, officially entering the early presidential election system.
Shin Dong-wook, the senior spokesperson of the People Power Party, announced this during a briefing after the Emergency Response Committee meeting held at the National Assembly, stating, "The composition plan for the 21st presidential election commission has been approved."

Regarding the background of appointing Chairman Hwang, Senior Spokesperson Shin explained, "He is a five-term lawmaker and has served as the party's emergency response committee chairman, so he is well acquainted with the party's internal affairs," adding, "We judged him to be the right person to manage the primary fairly and objectively."
Chairman Hwang is a senior politician who served as a judge and was a five-term lawmaker from the 15th to the 19th National Assembly. During the Park Geun-hye administration, he served as the Saenuri Party leader, Minister of Education, and Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs.
Chairman Hwang has experience managing primary schedules, having served as the election commission chairman at the June 11, 2021 party convention, leading to the election of former leader Lee Jun-seok. Last year, he also led the emergency response committee to manage the party after the general election defeat.
The vice chairman of the election commission will be Secretary-General Lee Yang-su. Election commissioners appointed include second-term lawmaker Cho Eun-hee, first-term lawmakers Lee Sang-hwi, Cho Ji-yeon, and Park Jun-tae, former lawmaker Jeon Ju-hye, party spokesperson Ho Jun-seok, Kim Chae-su, head of the party's Central University Student Committee, former party innovation committee member Lee So-hee, and Park Geon-hee, head of the party's Media Bureau.
During the Emergency Response Committee meeting, calls for party unity continued. Senior Spokesperson Shin conveyed, "The Emergency Response Committee chairman presented a principle to deal very strictly and harshly with acts that significantly contradict the party's official stance," adding, "There was also a principled statement that key party officials attending the Emergency Response Committee meetings should not go to primary campaign offices."
