Gwangju Buk-gu to Strengthen Civil Service Friendliness

Weekly Kindness Commitment in Practice
Utilizing a Collection of Service Case Studies
Snack Rewards for Complimented Departments

Gwangju Buk-gu District is launching initiatives to enhance the kindness of civil servants who handle civil complaints. Departments that receive compliments will be rewarded with snacks, and a collection of case studies will be used to help staff learn about courteous service, as part of an experiment to improve the internal atmosphere of the public sector.

Buk-gu announced on the 6th that it has established and begun implementing the "Civil Servant Kindness Service Improvement Plan" for the first time this year. The aim is to increase residents' satisfaction with administrative services in a way they can truly feel.

This plan consists of four initiatives: ▲Operation of "Kindness Commitment Day" ▲Compilation of a collection of kind and unkind service cases ▲Provision of snacks to kind departments ▲Tailored training programs.

Buk-gu has designated every Tuesday as "Kindness Commitment Day," posting commitment phrases at the top of the internal administrative network and conducting response manual and civil complaint handling training by department. What stands out is the "Reward for Compliments" system. Departments that receive compliments on the district office website are given snacks worth 100,000 won to encourage voluntary participation by civil servants.

District Mayor Moon In said, "The greatest goal of civil complaint services is the happiness of residents," adding, "We will ensure that the kind mindset of civil servants who interact directly with residents becomes the starting point for building trust in administration."
