Constitutional Court Unanimously Dismisses Yoon Seok-yeol 8:0 with No Dissenting Opinions

All Justices Unanimously Decide to Remove President Yoon from Office

On the 4th at 11:22 a.m., the Constitutional Court unanimously declared the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol. As a result, Yoon Seok-yeol is no longer able to exercise any presidential powers.

According to the Constitutional Court's impeachment ruling, the court judged that Yoon Seok-yeol, who declared the emergency martial law on December 3, "ignored the constitutional governance structure and infringed upon the fundamental rights of the people," and stated that "the resolution to lift martial law was thanks to the people and does not affect the assessment of the gravity of the situation." Furthermore, it found that "the impeachment motion was lawfully carried out in accordance with constitutional procedures."

All eight justices accepted the National Assembly's impeachment motion with a unanimous 8:0 vote. No justices dissented, although some expressed separate opinions on specific issues.
