Military Court Grants Bail to Former Commander Gwak Jong-geun Involved in December 3 Incident

Bail to Be Executed Later This Morning

The Central Regional Military Court has granted bail to former Army Special Warfare Command Commander Gwak Jong-geun, who was detained and indicted in connection with the December 3 emergency martial law incident.


According to the military on the 4th, the Central Military Court approved bail for former Commander Gwak, who is currently detained and indicted for engaging in important duties during the rebellion. The court plans to execute the bail for former Commander Gwak later that morning.

Earlier, at the first trial on the 26th of last month, former Commander Gwak's side requested bail, citing full admission of the charges and no risk of flight or evidence tampering. Former Commander Gwak also stated, "I have been visiting a university hospital for just over two years," adding, "I need to regularly undergo blood tests and manage medication, which causes various inconveniences, so I applied for bail."
