The Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters announced on the 4th that it is conducting training to strengthen disaster site response capabilities, such as aerial searches and human rescue using fire drones, over a period of fifteen days until the 15th.

This training is led by the drone officer of the 119 Special Response Unit's Special Rescue Team, serving as the instructor, and targets 45 participants including field command team leaders, pilots, and co-pilots from each fire station.

The main training content includes: ▲ Principles and operation of fire drones ▲ Drone pilot compliance with aviation laws ▲ Basic flight and controller operation ▲ Obstacle avoidance and advanced flight skills training. Both theoretical education and practical exercises are conducted in parallel.

The Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters plans to actively use fire drones for wildfire monitoring and prevention campaigns in vast, sparsely populated forest areas through this training. In addition, wildfire prevention broadcasts using speakers mounted on drones will be conducted to further strengthen wildfire guidance activities.

Choi Jeongsik, Head of the 119 Response Division at the Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “With increased utilization of fire drones, aerial search and response capabilities at various sites, including forest fires, are expected to be significantly enhanced. We will do our best to establish a disaster response system by actively utilizing drones at fire, rescue, and emergency sites.”
