- Selected for the 2025 Autonomous District Specialized Care SOS Service Contest
Guro-gu announced that it has been selected for the ‘2025 Autonomous District Specialized Care SOS Service Contest’ and will start a home-visit bathing service for Guro-gu residents from April 1.
The Autonomous District Specialized Care SOS Service Contest is a contest project conducted by Seoul City to discover and provide customized care services reflecting the characteristics of each region. Guro-gu applied for the ‘Guro-gu Care SOS Home-Visit Bathing Service’ to improve residents’ personal hygiene and reduce caregiving burdens, and was notified of the final selection result last month.
Accordingly, from April to December this year, the project will be promoted with a total budget of 49 million KRW fully supported by city funds.
The home-visit bathing service uses a vehicle equipped with bathing facilities to directly visit the homes of eligible users and assist those who need physical activity with bathing.
The eligible users are Guro-gu residents in housing-vulnerable households who require the home-visit bathing service. As of the application date, applicants must meet all four of the following conditions: △ currently having difficulty moving independently or performing independent daily activities △ absence of family members who can provide care or inability of family members to provide care △ not using public care services or experiencing care gaps due to emergencies while using such services △ experiencing changes requiring care within the last three months.
The service fee is calculated based on the 2025 Long-Term Care Insurance home-visit bathing fee for the elderly, which is 86,480 KRW. Low-income households or those with median income at or below 100% can use the service free of charge, while other residents must pay the full cost themselves.
A Guro-gu official said, “We hope the home-visit bathing service will help prevent diseases for residents living in places with inadequate bathing facilities such as jjokbang (small rooms) and gosiwon (boarding houses), or those who have difficulty living independently, as well as reduce the caregiving burden on their guardians. We will continue to carefully ensure there are no gaps in care.”
Guro-gu provides Care SOS services for residents who need care due to sudden illness, accidents, or absence of guardians, including △ ‘Temporary In-Home Care’ for nursing or caregiving within the home △ ‘Short-Term Facility Care’ providing temporary protection at facilities △ ‘Accompaniment Support’ assisting essential outings such as hospital visits △ ‘Housing Convenience’ such as simple home repairs and cleaning, and ‘Meal Delivery’ to maintain dietary needs.
