The People Power Party expressed deep regret on the 26th over the court's acquittal of Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, in the second trial of the Public Official Election Act violation case.
Shin Dong-wook, chief spokesperson of the People Power Party, stated in a commentary on the same day, "We will watch the Supreme Court's 'swift and wise judgment' going forward."
On the day, the Seoul High Court Criminal Division 6-2 (Presiding Judges Choi Eun-jung, Lee Ye-seul, Jung Jae-oh) overturned the original ruling and acquitted Lee in the appeal trial of the Public Official Election Act violation case.

Spokesperson Shin criticized the Democratic Party, saying, "Do not expect public opinion to improve just because Lee was acquitted in the second trial," and pointed out, "The fact that Lee is a 'four-time convicted offender' and the label of '8 cases, 12 charges, 5 trials' still remain."
He also criticized Lee, saying, "Throughout the Public Official Election Act trials, he has employed 'trial delay tactics,'" and "He has mocked the court by not receiving notices such as the lawsuit record receipt notice for the start of the appeal trial or even filing a constitutional review request on the false statement crime."
He urged, "If Lee is truly innocent, instead of employing 'trick strategies' like a 'law manipulator' in the remaining trials, he should sincerely participate in the trials as an equal citizen of the Republic of Korea before the law."
Finally, he added, "We will await the Supreme Court's wise judgment," and "We urge the judiciary to make swift and strict rulings."
