The military has deployed approximately 1,300 troops and 35 helicopters to support wildfire suppression efforts centered in some parts of Yeongnam.
Jeon Ha-gyu, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, stated at a regular briefing on the 24th, "Our military, led by the 2nd Operations Command, has deployed about 1,350 personnel from the Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force, as well as 35 helicopters from the Army Aviation Command and Air Force Operations Command, utilizing available manpower and equipment to conduct wildfire suppression, mop-up operations, and medical support."
Spokesperson Jeon explained, "In particular, during wildfire suppression and civilian support, field commanders are emphasizing clear command and control to prioritize the safety of the troops while carrying out their missions. They are also stressing to subordinate units the importance of paying special attention to safety to prevent wildfires and fires during live-fire exercises and other unit training."
