Triathlon competitions consist of swimming, running, and cycling, so most events are held in coastal areas. Yangsan is able to host a triathlon thanks to Hwangsan Park’s proximity to the Nakdong River. The event takes place over two days in May, when Hwangsan Park is at its most beautiful.
On the first day, elite athletes compete, and on the second day, about 550 club members from all over the country participate against the backdrop of Hwangsan Park. The event is on par with the most prestigious competitions in Tongyeong and Goseong.

The park golf course in Hwangsan Park is gaining popularity by word of mouth, attracting people from across the country to enjoy park golf. Since the sport is especially popular among older adults, many also visit for tourism.
Thanks to the great appeal of Hwangsan Park, players prefer it over other locations for park golf.
To meet this demand, the city expanded the park golf course in Hwangsan Park from 36 holes to 90 holes. In addition, the 2nd President’s Cup Park Golf Tournament will be held there in May. After the tournament, even more park golfers are expected to visit from all over the country.
▲ Dance Competition ‘Blue Ocean Festa’
Hwangsan Park is a blue ocean not only for Yangsan but for all of Gyeongnam. Since last year, Yangsan City has hosted the ‘Blue Ocean Festa’ dance competition in the Hwangsan Park area to fulfill the cultural needs of young people, making the most of the late summer.
Outside the Seoul metropolitan area, it is rare to see professional dancers perform, so expectations were high not only among youth but also among many citizens. The event, judged by Hyojin Choi?famous from Street Woman Fighter?and other renowned dancers, was enough to captivate not only seniors exercising in Hwangsan Park but also many visitors.

▲ Yangsan National Half Marathon
Two years ago, Yangsan City revamped its marathon course to create an eco-friendly route running through Hwangsan Park. Thanks to well-maintained roads and the scenic backdrop of Hwangsan Park, the Yangsan City Marathon, held in December, is famous among marathoners as a prime event for achieving PB (Personal Best) records.
Since last year, the number of participants has increased from 6,000 to 7,000. Despite the additional 1,000 spots, registration closed early due to the nationwide running boom. On various social media platforms, the Yangsan City Marathon is praised for its excellent organization and for helping runners achieve their personal bests.
Additionally, many share that running through Hwangsan Park allows them to enjoy the winter scenery. This event remains one of the most anticipated marathons for runners aiming for a new PB this year.
A Yangsan City official stated, “Hwangsan Park is easily accessible thanks to expressways such as the Gyeongbu and Jungang Expressways, as well as KTX Mulgeum Station, Ulsan Station, and nearby airports. With its mild weather and stunning landscape, athletes from all over the country continue to visit. In fact, as the floating population around Hwangsan Park increases, this has led to higher sales for nearby shops and accommodations, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.”
