As the consumer base for protein intake expands?from the younger generation focusing on increasing muscle mass to manage weight and body shape, to middle-aged and older adults willingly spending on anti-aging diets?the domestic protein market is showing growth. According to the industry, the size of the domestic protein market in 2023 is estimated to be about 450 billion KRW. This marks more than a fivefold increase from 81.3 billion KRW in 2018 over five years. Lotte Wellfood plans to aggressively target the senior care market through the 'Pasteur Protein+' brand, designed to reflect diverse consumer demands for existing protein products.

'Pasteur Protein+' consists of two products: one ready-to-drink (RTD) liquid product and one powder product. The liquid product, released with a 'grain flavor,' contains 12g of protein. Made from Grade A raw milk sourced exclusively from Pasteur’s dedicated farms, it preserves freshness and rich nutrition. It incorporates five domestically grown grains (brown rice, barley, glutinous rice, sorghum, and millet) to add the rich and savory flavor of misutgaru, catering to the taste preferences of middle-aged and older consumers. One pack provides 505 mg of calcium, which supports bone and muscle growth, along with 20 types of multivitamins and minerals.

Another advantage is that it contains lactase enzyme to break down lactose, allowing people who experience discomfort such as gas, abdominal pain, or diarrhea (lactose intolerance) after drinking milk to enjoy it comfortably. Additionally, it is designed to be low in sugar so that people of all ages can drink it healthily without the burden of sugar intake. The carbohydrate content is also low, with only 110 kcal per pack. The product uses sterilized paper pack packaging, allowing for storage at room temperature.

The powder product, also with a 'grain flavor,' comes in a can and is formulated with a 6:4 ratio of animal to plant protein. It is consumed by dissolving 50g of the product in 150?180 ml of water. Utilizing Pasteur’s expertise accumulated in the infant food category, a three-stage drying method (MSD method) is applied, enabling it to dissolve well in cold water or milk. One serving (50g) provides 15g of protein along with 18 types of multivitamins and minerals (calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, iodine, manganese) to supplement nutritional needs.
