"Open Recruitment for One Ruling Party Member of the Broadcasting and Communications Commission"
Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, announced on the 18th that "if additional houses are purchased in the provinces, the heavy taxation on multi-homeowners will be abolished."
At the floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Kwon said, "It is urgent to resolve the real estate polarization between Seoul and the provinces."
He pointed out, "A new paradigm for real estate taxation is needed," adding, "We must accept the market function of multi-homeowners who act as private rental business operators and create channels for real estate funds to flow into the provinces."

Regarding specific measures, he explained, "The first additional house will be considered without counting the number of houses if it is located in the provinces." However, to prevent the adverse effect of rising housing prices in the metropolitan area due to such tax reform, the existing taxation method will be maintained if the second or subsequent houses are located in the metropolitan area. Through this, demand concentrated on a 'smart single house' is expected to be redirected to the provinces, alleviating real estate polarization between the metropolitan area and the provinces.
Additionally, the People Power Party announced that it will publicly recruit one member of the Broadcasting and Communications Commission representing the ruling party.
Under the current Broadcasting and Communications Commission Establishment Act, out of five commissioners, two are appointed by the president, and three are recommended by the National Assembly (one from the ruling party and two from the opposition). Currently, the commission operates with two members appointed by the president: Chairperson Lee Jin-sook and Vice Chairperson Kim Tae-gyu.
Kwon criticized, "After the dismissal of Chairperson Lee's impeachment, we persistently requested the opposition party to proceed with the recommendation process for the three National Assembly members of the Broadcasting and Communications Commission, but even after two months, the opposition has not responded and only repeats that the two-member system is illegal," calling it "an intention to paralyze the commission."
