On the 16th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it had amended and approved the redevelopment plan decision and redevelopment zone designation for the Daechi Mido Apartment reconstruction project in Gangnam-gu at the 2nd Urban Planning Committee’s Rapid Integrated Planning Redevelopment Project and other authorized subcommittee meetings.

Completed in 1983, Daechi Mido Apartment consists of a total of 25 buildings and 2,436 households. After reconstruction, a total of 3,914 households (including 756 rental housing units) of multi-family housing and ancillary welfare facilities will be created. The rapid integrated planning was completed in November 2022, and the redevelopment plan was finalized after 2 years and 4 months. The floor area ratio will be applied at 299.99% or less, and the height will be limited to 50 floors or less (170 meters or less). The final architectural plan will be confirmed after review by the integrated redevelopment project review committee.

After reconstruction, a children's park will be newly established on the east side of Daegok Elementary School and a cultural park along Yangjaecheon Stream to ensure easy access for local residents. Social welfare facilities such as kids cafes and elderly care facilities will be constructed on the south side of the Gangnam-gu Community Center, considering connectivity with public facilities. The existing Daechi Neighborhood Park located along Yeongdong-daero will be demolished.

Additionally, a three-dimensional pedestrian walkway crossing Yangjaecheon will be newly built to connect the Daechi living area and the Gaepo living area. A rainwater storage tank will be installed underground beneath the social welfare facilities to prevent flooding around the Daechi Station intersection.

Choi Jin-seok, Director of the Housing Office at Seoul City, said, "With the amendment and approval of the Daechi Mido Apartment reconstruction project redevelopment plan, we plan to improve the poor residential environment within the Daechi living area and supply high-quality public housing through future redevelopment projects." He added, "We will continue to actively support the Daechi Mido Apartment reconstruction project so that it can proceed at a swift pace."
