Training About 500 Professionals Annually
Achievements of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's ODA Project
Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation (LX) announced on the 13th that it has established an education center in Dodoma, the capital of Tanzania, to train and strengthen the capabilities of geospatial information personnel.
Since July 2021, the corporation has been working with domestic geospatial companies on the "Tanzania National Geo-innovation Centre (TNGC)" project, which will conclude in November 2024, and has completed registration as an official educational institution under the Tanzanian Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development.
This center offers various training programs including Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) surveying, aerial photography and drone surveying, geospatial image processing, digital topographic map production, and ICT infrastructure construction. It plans to train about 500 personnel annually from both public and private sectors.
During the establishment of the center, the corporation developed the educational curriculum and selected and trained professional instructors, thereby creating a sustainable geospatial education system.
This project was conducted as part of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) program promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. It is expected not only to establish a foundation for exporting Korean-style geospatial systems to Tanzania but also to strengthen friendly cooperation between the two countries.

Building on the establishment of this center, the corporation plans to pursue follow-up projects for the modernization of geospatial information and land administration in Tanzania.
As the only specialized institution for cadastral surveying and geospatial information in Korea, the corporation has carried out overseas projects in 38 countries since 2006, collaborating with domestic companies. Through this, it actively supports the overseas expansion of private companies.
