"Creating New Business Opportunities by Integrating Data and AI"
"Positive Response to MWC AI Service... Attracting Interest from Global Payment Companies"
BC Card is accelerating its new data and AI business by partnering with the U.S. data and artificial intelligence (AI) company Databricks. By advancing AI infrastructure to reduce operational risks, it is expected to strengthen internal controls as well.
On the 11th, BC Card announced that it signed a business agreement at a hotel in Seoul, attended by President Choi Won-seok and Databricks Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) Ron Gabrisko, among others.
Through this agreement, BC Card’s consumer data will be applied to Databricks’ data intelligence platform, enabling the construction of data and AI platforms, collaboration on new business implementation and technology development, and the discovery and expansion of AI-related external business partners.
BC Card plans to apply AI to internal operations to enhance work processes and reduce risks.
Databricks easily processes and analyzes vast amounts of data through its solutions. It specializes in training AI models using machine learning.
Recently, BC Card participated in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, where it unveiled its new AI-based service.
This service predicts customers’ next actions and recommends related products when a product ordered via KT Hi-Order at a specific merchant is paid for using BC Card Paybook. It received positive responses from numerous global payment companies attending MWC.
President Choi said, "We are pleased to collaborate with Databricks, which has outstanding capabilities in generative AI and data fields," adding, "This will be an opportunity to reaffirm BC Card’s commitment to providing more advanced next-generation payment solutions."
CRO Gabrisko stated, "Based on this cooperation, we will implement AI-based data intelligence reflecting the unique data of each organization," and expressed confidence that it will provide greater value to millions of BC Card customers and accelerate organizational innovation."
BC Card is the first financial company in Korea to hold all five government-approved data business licenses.
BC Card said, "We have established ourselves as a leader in processing the essential data required for AI development in various forms," adding, "We contribute to strengthening domestic AI competitiveness by freely releasing a finance-specialized large language model (LLM) and 1.8 million financial language data records."
