Hyundai Movex Unmanned Transport Robot Wins 'iF Design Award'

Three Types of 'Flatbody AGV' Win Product Award
"Global Competitiveness Enhanced by Combining Functionality and Design"

Hyundai Movex announced on the 11th that three types of unmanned transport robots, 'Flatbody AGV,' won the Product Design Award at the German 'iF Design Award 2025.'

The iF Design Award is a global design competition with a 75-year tradition, organized by the German International Forum. It selects outstanding designs by evaluating originality, functionality, sustainability, and more across nine categories including product, packaging, and concept.

According to Hyundai Movex, the Flatbody AGV received high scores for both its shape and functionality. The sophisticated contrast of black and white colors and the delicately processed cover division lines stand out. It is considered unusual for an industrial robot to combine both functionality and design.

The strength of the Flatbody AGV lies in its low and flat robot top, which can be equipped with various devices. Depending on the attached device, the AGV’s operation (unidirectional or omnidirectional), height, and transport method (conveyor, lift, etc.) can be adjusted to suit the work environment.

Hyundai Movex has standardized the AGV top devices by type to significantly reduce manufacturing time and is increasing supply mainly to new growth industries with high demand for logistics robots, such as secondary batteries and pharmaceuticals/biotech, through customized production. Hyundai Movex explained that the large-scale Cheongna Research and Development (R&D) Center established in 2019 enabled the rapid development of various logistics robots including AGVs and the advancement of smart logistics solutions.

In September last year, Hyundai Movex also won the Australian 'Good Design Award' for its 'Subway Screen Door Safety Step.' It was praised for combining functionality that ensures passenger safety with a clean exterior design. Screen doors are another key pillar of Hyundai Movex’s main business. Earlier, in 2022, the company succeeded in its first overseas expansion of the screen door business by securing a supply contract for platform screen doors (PSD) and safety steps for the Sydney subway in Australia.

A Hyundai Movex official said, "As the appearance of industrial equipment is becoming increasingly important, we will continue to innovate product design," adding, "We will establish smart logistics competitiveness that meets the standards of global customers."
