To Be Used as a Hub for Private Agricultural Industry Organizations
Hongseong County in Chungnam has announced plans to transform the long-neglected Hongnongyeon Hall building, located in Bongshin-ri, Hongbuk-eup, into a multifunctional space and a new vitality shared platform for farmers.
Lee Seungbok, Director of the Hongseong County Agricultural Technology Center, explained the purpose and progress of the project to create a multifunctional space and new vitality shared platform for farmers during a county government briefing held at the Administrative Public Relations Support Office on the morning of the 10th.
The Hongnongyeon Hall, operated by the Hongseong County Federation of Agricultural Organizations and located in Bongshin-ri, Hongbuk-eup, sits between Naepo New Town and Hongseong-eup, offering significant geographical advantages. However, after being used as a wedding hall, restaurant, and office in the past, it has been left unused for a long period due to continued financial losses.
In response, the county secured a total of 2.2 billion KRW in 2023, including 1.1 billion KRW in national funds, to revitalize the Hongnongyeon Hall building. After incorporating advice from public architects, the project direction was changed from simple remodeling to major renovation. Last year, an additional 1.6 billion KRW in national funds and 200 million KRW in county funds were secured through the New Vitality Plus Project budget, preparing a total of 4 billion KRW for the regeneration project.
In the second half of last year, the county underwent a preliminary review of the project plan by the Public Architecture Support Center and a review by the Hongseong County Public Architecture Deliberation Committee. After selecting a design firm through a public contest, the county is currently selecting construction and service companies through the Public Procurement Service and is proceeding with the demolition work of the building.
Once the construction of Hongnongyeon Hall is completed, the county plans to use it as a hub for private agricultural industry organizations.
Through this, the county aims to foster private agricultural organizations with an economic foundation for self-reliance and to create a sustainable agricultural industry ecosystem.
Lee Seungbok, Director of the County Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "Only organizations with autonomy and independence based on economic self-reliance can be competitive and respond flexibly to change. By utilizing the multifunctional space and new vitality shared platform for farmers, we will foster such self-reliant organizations and secure the sustainability of Hongseong County's agricultural industry."
