Gwangju Buk-gu will provide up to 300,000 KRW to ease the burden of nationality acquisition for marriage immigrants. The purpose is to alleviate economic difficulties and support stable settlement.
According to Buk-gu on the 10th, the support is available to marriage immigrants who have acquired Korean nationality after January 1 of last year, have resided in Buk-gu for more than six months, and belong to households with an income at or below 150% of the median income. As of the application date, the applicant must be married to a spouse with Korean nationality.
This year, a total of 30 people will be supported, and Buk-gu plans to strengthen promotion in cooperation with immigration offices and the Buk-gu Family Center. Applications can be submitted in person or by mail at the local administrative welfare center or the Women and Childcare Division of Buk-gu Office. If selected as a final recipient, the support fund will be deposited into the account on the 20th of the following month.
Buk-gu Mayor Moon In said, "I hope this project will reduce the economic burden on multicultural families and help them settle stably," adding, "We will continue to develop population inflow policies to respond to the risk of regional extinction."
