Gangnam Symphony, Rachmaninoff's 'Piano Concerto No. 3 · Symphonic Dances'

Pianist Shin Changyong to Collaborate

The Gangnam Symphony Orchestra will perform Rachmaninoff's "Piano Concerto No. 3" and "Symphonic Dances" at its second regular concert of the year, held on March 22 at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall.


David Lee, the artistic director of the Gangnam Symphony, will conduct, with pianist Shin Chang-yong as the soloist.

Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 was composed for his American debut performance. The piece lasts about 40 minutes and is known for its technical difficulty, yet it is also widely beloved by audiences.


Pianist Shin Chang-yong, who will perform this concerto, gained recognition by winning first place as the first Korean at the 2018 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, first place at the 2017 Seoul International Music Competition, and first place at the 2016 Hilton Head International Piano Competition. In 2022, he received the Raymond E. Buck Jury Discretionary Award at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, the most prestigious competition in North America.


Ticket prices are 50,000 KRW for R seats, 30,000 KRW for S seats, and 20,000 KRW for A seats. Tickets can be purchased through Interpark Ticket and the Seoul Arts Center website.
