Targeting Vulnerable Groups in Emergency Medical Care
The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Fire Department (Chief Lee Osook) will operate the "Our Child Smart 119 Emergency Service" targeting vulnerable groups in emergency medical care starting this year.
According to the Jeonbuk Fire Department on the 7th, the Our Child Smart 119 Emergency Service was launched to strengthen the creation of a safe environment for children and adolescents (under the age of 18) in the province in response to the era of low birth rates.

The 119 emergency service expands the coverage of the existing "Infant Smart Emergency Service." When the information of the eligible individual is digitized and registered with the 119 General Situation Room, disease information and other relevant details are delivered to the dispatched team when the individual uses 119.
Starting this year, the eligible age for this service has been expanded from under 6 years old to children and adolescents under 18. The service, which previously only covered rare diseases and pediatric cancer, will now provide customized emergency services for all conditions that may cause emergency symptoms.
Pediatric and adolescent patients often have difficulty accurately expressing their symptoms, and guardians may be too flustered to provide precise information about the patient in emergencies.
Accordingly, this service allows the use of pre-registered information from the reporting stage, reducing the time needed to identify additional patient information and supporting faster and more accurate hospital transfers and on-site measures.
To ensure smooth operation of this service, Jeonbuk Fire Department will invite specialists twice a year to provide competency training for emergency responders and will establish a cooperative system with pediatric medical institutions in the province, focusing on intensive promotion so that many residents can benefit from the service.
The "Our Child Smart 119 Emergency Service" can be registered by guardians who visit the nearest fire station or directly call 119 and consent to the provision of personal information.
Chief Lee Osook stated, "We will do our best to create a solid safety environment so that residents can raise their children safely and happily," and added, "We will continue to strive to provide high-quality 119 emergency services in the future."
