Charge of Leaking Official Secrets Transferred to the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials
Prosecutor Lee Jeong-seop of the Daejeon High Prosecutors' Office, who is accused of falsifying his address for his child's school admission and receiving room charges from a conglomerate executive for resort use, has been brought to trial.
The Criminal Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Seung-ho) indicted Prosecutor Lee without detention on the 6th on charges of violating the Resident Registration Act and the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act. The charge of leaking official secrets was transferred to the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials.
Prosecutor Lee is accused of falsifying his address for his child's elementary school admission and receiving resort room charges from a conglomerate executive at the resort. He is also suspected of having checked the criminal record of an employee at a golf course operated by his brother-in-law. The investigation into Prosecutor Lee began in October 2023 following a complaint by the Democratic Party of Korea.
