Discussion on Plans for Establishing a Memorial Park, Exhibition Hall, and Arboretum Theme Park

On the 6th, Jangseong County in Jeonnam held the final briefing session for the 'Jangseong Hwangryong Historic Site Comprehensive Maintenance Plan' and discussed improvement measures. The Hwangryong Historic Site (356-2, Jangsan-ri, Hwangryong-myeon) is a historically significant location where the Donghak Peasant Army achieved its first victory against government forces in 1894.

Until now, there have been ongoing requests for improvement as there were no facilities at the Hwangryong Historic Site to document its history. The site's accessibility has also been criticized, as it is surrounded by farmland.

Since July last year, the county has established a maintenance plan through a current status survey and analysis of cases in other regions. During the briefing session, discussions were held on the creation of a Victory Memorial Park, a visitor center, an exhibition and memorial hall, and a Donghak Arboretum Theme Park.

The county plans to supplement the final maintenance plan by incorporating the opinions presented at the briefing session.

Kim Hanjong, the county governor, stated, "We will shed new light on the historical value of the Hwangryong Historic Site and prepare measures to connect it with regional development."
