Chungnam Province to Offer Up to 100,000 Won for Reducing Vehicle Mileage

Chungnam Province announced on the 6th that it will begin recruiting 3,024 participants for the 'Automobile Carbon Neutrality Point System' on a first-come, first-served basis, starting from the 10th, targeting residents who own automobiles.

The Carbon Neutrality Point System is a policy that provides incentives based on the reduction of vehicle mileage. Participants can receive up to 100,000 KRW depending on their mileage reduction performance.

The incentives are as follows: 20,000 KRW for a reduction rate of 0-10%, 40,000 KRW for 10-20%, 60,000 KRW for 20-30%, 80,000 KRW for 30-40%, and 100,000 KRW for over 40% reduction.

Based on the amount of reduction: 20,000 KRW for 0-1,000 km, 40,000 KRW for 1,000-2,000 km, 60,000 KRW for 2,000-3,000 km, 80,000 KRW for 3,000-4,000 km, and 100,000 KRW for over 4,000 km. Participants can receive the incentive based on whichever is more advantageous between reduction rate and reduction amount.

Eligible applicants are owners who have registered non-commercial passenger cars or vans with 12 seats or fewer in the province. After signing up on the Automobile Carbon Neutrality Point website, applicants must submit a front photo of the vehicle (including the license plate) and a photo of the odometer showing the cumulative mileage via a link sent by text message.

Applications will be accepted by city and county on a first-come, first-served basis until the 20th. In cities and counties where the quota is not filled, additional applications for remaining vehicles can be submitted starting April 7. Commercial vehicles and eco-friendly vehicles (electric, hybrid, hydrogen, etc.) are excluded from eligibility.

Kim Youngmyung, Director of Environment and Forest Affairs for the province, said, "We ask for the active participation of residents in the Automobile Carbon Neutrality Point System, which not only helps achieve carbon neutrality by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles but also offers incentives."
