The hamburger made with a recipe proposed by firefighters first caught the eye with its red Diablo sauce. Unlike Burger King's usual burgers, the vivid red sauce left a strong impression. However, contrary to expectations, the spiciness is at a level "even elementary school students can eat," offering a subtle, mild heat rather than an intense one.

Earlier, to celebrate its 40th anniversary in Korea, Burger King held a 'Recipe Contest' last year in collaboration with the Seoul Fire & Disaster Headquarters. A total of 1,328 recipes were submitted, and Firefighter Kim Hee-jung won the contest.

The star is the 'Bulkeun Burger' featuring the spicy Diablo sauce. Firefighter Kim Hee-jung proposed the recipe with a story saying, "I want to gift it to the 'Bulkeun' (Fire Fighting) crew." Originally planned as an event product to support firefighters and offered only to them, the burger was officially added to the menu and launched on the 17th of last month due to consumer demand.

The Bulkeun Burger made a heavy impression from the start. Weighing 446g, it is the heaviest among Burger King burgers. Looking inside, the combination of beef patty and shrimp patty stands out. The generous composition includes large whole shrimp, melted cheese, fresh iceberg lettuce, and tomato. It perfectly matches the description of a hearty meal reflecting firefighters' stamina and passion.

The moment you take the first bite, the smoky beef patty and the chewy shrimp patty create a distinctly unique harmony. Unlike typical burgers with only one patty, the combination of two patties enhances both flavor and texture. The Diablo sauce is slightly sweet with a savory umami taste. Those expecting intense spiciness might find it somewhat disappointing, but the various ingredients harmonize to complete a satisfying meal.

Its calorie count is as heavy as its weight. It contrasts with the 'healthy pleasure' trend, which pursues health without losing enjoyment. A typical hamburger sold at fast-food restaurants exceeds 1000 kcal only when eaten with fries and cola. The Bulkeun Burger alone boasts a whopping 1056 kcal, making it a calorie bomb. Adding fries (279 kcal) and cola (150 kcal) brings the total close to 1500 kcal. Considering the recommended daily intake for adult men is 2000?2500 kcal, this is a significantly high-calorie food. It is recommended for those who prioritize eating enjoyment over health.

The price is also not modest. The Bulkeun Burger costs 12,500 KRW for a single item and 14,500 KRW for a set. The double version with two beef patties is priced at 15,000 KRW for a single and 17,000 KRW for a set. Despite its high calories and price, the Bulkeun Burger is a burger worth trying at least once due to its special meaning and hearty composition. A Burger King representative said, "We will continue to support heroes across our society and actively engage in social contribution."
