Hampyeong County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 6th that it held a meeting on the pilot project for establishing a whole crop rice production complex with the Hanwoo Association to increase farm income and adjust rice supply.
About 30 participants attended the meeting, including Noh Byeongcheol, Director of Agricultural Policy at Hampyeong County, Yang Munoh, Chairman of the Hampyeong County Livestock Association, the head of the Hanwoo Association Hampyeong branch, town and township directors, and operating committee members.
During the meeting, the purpose and details of the "whole crop rice production complex pilot project," which aims to achieve both "high-quality forage production" and "adjustment of rice cultivation area," were explained to the Hanwoo Association representatives.
It was especially emphasized that whole crop rice yields more than regular rice and is expected to generate additional income of about 52,000 KRW per 200 pyeong compared to general rice cultivation, thanks to benefits such as increased unit price of strategic crop direct payments, incentive payments, transportation cost support, and full purchase of the crop.
Applications for the project can be submitted at the town or township office where the farmland is located until the 14th.
Hampyeong County plans to invest 780 million KRW to support production base incentives such as paddy drainage improvement, forage seeds, high-quality forage production, and transportation costs.
Lee Sangik, Governor of Hampyeong County, said, "Through this whole crop rice production complex pilot project, we will increase farm income and establish a stable forage supply base," and added, "We hope for the active interest and participation of livestock farmers, including the Hanwoo Association."
