Jeonnam Election Commission Confirms Candidate's Provision of Goods
Files Police Complaint Based on Relevant Regulations

The first case of election fraud related to the Saemaeul Geumgo chairman election has been uncovered in Jeonnam.
The Jeollanam-do Election Commission (hereinafter referred to as the 'Jeonnam Election Commission') reported that it has filed a complaint with the police against candidate A, who is running for chairman of a local Saemaeul Geumgo, on charges of violating the Act on Entrusted Elections by Public Organizations and other related offenses, in connection with the 1st Nationwide Simultaneous Saemaeul Geumgo Chairman Election scheduled for the 5th.
Candidate A is accused of engaging in electioneering activities, such as contacting voters B and C in person and by phone, and providing goods worth a total of 1,526,000 KRW.
Under current regulations, any act of providing money or goods to voters for the purpose of electioneering is strictly prohibited.
An official from the Jeonnam Election Commission stated, "We are focusing our enforcement capabilities on eradicating serious election crimes that disrupt the order of the Saemaeul Geumgo chairman election, which is being held nationwide," and emphasized, "A reward of up to 300 million KRW will be given to those who report violations, so we urge active reporting and tip-offs."
