"South Korea's First Catholic Religious Textbook"... 'Life and Religion' Approved and Published by Education Office

The Korean Catholic Church's first religious textbooks for middle and high schools have been published, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea announced on the 26th.

"South Korea's First Catholic Religious Textbook"... 'Life and Religion' Approved and Published by Education Office

'Life and Religion for Youth' (middle school) and 'Life and Religion' (high school) are the results of the government's '2022 Revised Curriculum Religious Textbook Development Project' and have been approved by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and the Sejong Special Self-Governing City Office of Education, respectively. These are the first religious textbooks of the Korean Catholic Church to receive approval from the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea and recognition as authorized textbooks by the educational review bodies.


These textbooks contain content about the meaning and role of religion in human life and the wisdom of life conveyed by religion.


The authors of 'Life and Religion for Youth' (middle school) include Father Jo Young-gwan, Professor Kim Kyung-i (Graduate School of Education, Catholic University), Sister Kim Yul-ok, Teacher Park Jin-hee (Somyung Girls' High School), Father Oh Seung-eon (Archdiocese of Seoul, teacher at Dongseong Middle School), and Professor Oh Ji-seop (Adjunct Professor, Department of Religious Studies, Sogang University). The authors of 'Life and Religion' (high school) include Father Jo Young-gwan, Professor Kim Kyung-i, Sister Kim Yul-ok, Father Kim Hong-ju (Archdiocese of Seoul, teacher at Gyeseong High School), and Professor Oh Ji-seop.
