The evaluation is conducted on 679 institutions including central administrative agencies, local governments, and public institutions. The evaluation areas are "Public Data Provision" and "Data-Driven Administration," with five assessment criteria: ▲Openness & Utilization ▲Analysis & Utilization ▲Sharing ▲Quality ▲Management System.

KORAIL received the "Excellent" grade for the fourth consecutive year in the "Public Data Provision Evaluation." In the evaluation, KORAIL was highly rated for adding 62 new public data types, such as the opening dates and convenience facilities of major stations, based on a nationwide public survey last year, opening a total of 285 data types (223 in 2023), and striving to discover user-tailored data.

The increase in usage of the "Ticket Authenticity Verification System" data, which opened additional information desired by users after a field survey, by 23% compared to the previous year also contributed to achieving the excellent grade.

KORAIL also received its first "Excellent" grade in the "Data-Driven Administration Evaluation." This evaluation is conducted to measure the administrative status and work capabilities based on data across the entire operations of administrative and public institutions.

Last year, KORAIL developed the "Rail Temperature Prediction System," which combines Internet of Things (IoT) sensor data attached to tracks nationwide with weather information from the Korea Meteorological Administration to prevent slowdowns caused by heatwaves.

Additionally, KORAIL was recognized for developing new data-driven services such as the "Dedicated Map System," which combines map data from the National Geographic Information Institute with railway route maps, and launching the "Train Location Information Service," allowing customers to check train information in real time, earning the excellent grade.

Won Jong-cheol, Head of KORAIL's Digital Convergence Headquarters, said, "We will strive to provide the public with highly complete railway information data and accelerate service innovation and digital transformation based on data."
