Creation of 'Eoullim Center' in Geumcheon-gu Usijang Area... "Strengthening Local Competitiveness" Perspective view of the 'Industrial Culture Harmony Center' to be built in the Usijang area of Doksan-dong, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. Provided by Seoul City

An 'Industrial Culture Harmony Center' will be built in the Usijang area of Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. The plan is to enhance local industrial competitiveness by introducing senior job projects and public rental housing.

On the 26th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will create the Industrial Culture Harmony Center, a key hub facility of the urban regeneration New Deal project, in the Usijang area of Doksan-dong, Geumcheon-gu.

Doksan-dong Usijang has declined since the 2000s due to the relocation of slaughterhouses and other factors. The city has been promoting the urban regeneration New Deal project in the Usijang area of Doksan-dong to improve living conditions and install various cultural facilities.

The Industrial Culture Harmony Center is planned to have 2 basement floors and 8 above-ground floors. It will include social overhead capital (SOC) facilities such as a senior club and Seoul-style kids cafe, senior job project sites, and public rental housing. Completion is targeted for next year.

Additionally, the city aims to complete the 'Commercial Area Revitalization Harmony Center,' a place for interaction between local residents and merchants near the Industrial Culture Harmony Center, by December this year. It is expected to become an anchor facility that promotes the revitalization of the local commercial area by introducing affordable 'circulating win-win cooperation stores' and convenience facilities, and improving the surrounding environment.

Kim Chang-gyu, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Balanced Development Headquarters, said, "Through the creation of the Industrial Culture Harmony Center and the Commercial Area Revitalization Harmony Center, we hope that the Doksan-dong area will be reborn as a vibrant region where industry, commerce, and culture harmonize." He added, "We will do our best to make the urban regeneration New Deal project in the Doksan-dong Usijang area a successful model of urban regeneration that drives local competitiveness by introducing job creation facilities and establishing new economic infrastructure."
