Yoon Sang-hyun on Lee's 'Centrist Conservative' Remark: "Deceiving the People... Democratic Party Should Cut Ties"

"If You Have Any Conscience,
Stop Falsely Glorifying Lee"

On the 24th, Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, criticized Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, for his 'moderate conservative' remark, calling it "another deception of the people." He also argued that the Democratic Party should "cut ties" with Lee.

On the same day, Yoon stated on his Facebook account, "Lee recently falsely claimed that the Democratic Party is a moderate conservative party. But perhaps realizing he went too far, he is now quietly removing the word 'conservative'."

He criticized, "Lee is currently facing five trials on 12 charges across eight cases, including impersonation of a prosecutor, false information disclosure, suspicions related to the Daejang-dong development corruption, and bribery and illegal funding allegations connected to the Ssangbangwool Group," calling it an "unprecedented record."

Regarding Lee's statement that the Democratic Party is a moderate conservative party, he likened it to "not only stealing a family motto by taking advantage of a neighbor's hardship but also insisting it was originally his own," adding, "this amounts to an additional charge of family motto theft."

He continued, "Historically, immoral politicians are more frightening than incompetent ones," pointing out, "because immoral politicians bring great disasters to the country."

Yoon asserted, "If the Democratic Party, as the main opposition party, has any conscience, it should stop the mistake of falsely glorifying Lee and turning him into a naked emperor immediately." He added, "The party should cut ties with Lee, who has lived a life stained with impersonation and lies, and carry on the spirit of Kim Dae-jung, who worked for national unity and the development of democracy."

Meanwhile, Lee wrote on Facebook the previous day, "The Democratic Party has always been a centrist party," stating, "When progressive values were more important due to the times, the party played a progressive centrist role; when conservative values were more important, it played a moderate conservative role." He argued that progressivism and conservatism are relative depending on the era and circumstances. He emphasized, "In the current situation where the People Power Party has revealed its extreme right-wing nature and even abandoned a formal conservative role, the Democratic Party's moderate conservative role is more important."
