This project was finalized through the approval of the change in the Seogyo 2 District Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Plan in December 2022. It is also a key project promoted by Mayor Lee Gwon-jae of the 8th civil administration with the goal of transportation innovation.
The parking tower will be constructed with three above-ground floors and a capacity of 521 spaces. Completion is scheduled for December next year. Along with the parking tower, a connecting walkway to the Osan Station transfer center will also be built. The project cost is 35.3 billion KRW, fully funded by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH).
The existing Osan Station transfer parking lot was small in scale, causing inconvenience to users. Once the new transfer parking lot is completed, the accessibility of public transportation for citizens commuting to Seoul and other areas via Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 1 is expected to improve.
At the event, a groundbreaking ceremony was also held for the construction of a four-lane (two lanes each way) access road to the transfer parking lot.
Mayor Lee said, "In addition to the construction of this large-scale transfer parking lot, the Osan Station area will undergo significant changes, including the development of landmark commercial facilities on the former Gyesung Paper site."
