Interview with Jo Hang-guk, CEO of Seda Welding Machines
20-Year Welding Veteran Runs YouTube Channel Himself
Leading the "Popularization of Welding"... Now You Can Buy Welding Machines
"In the past, welding was often considered a field only for experts, but now it is an era where anyone can learn and utilize it directly."
Jo Hang-guk, CEO of Seda Welding Machines, is a 20-year veteran in the welding machine industry. He acquired welding machine AS (after-sales service) skills during about four years of working in the field. Afterwards, he founded Seda Welding Machines and currently sells over 40 types of welding products, including electric welders and argon welders. Unlike the past when welding experts were the main customers, the popularization of welding has recently led to a significant increase in middle-aged and older male customers.

The Seda Welding Machines YouTube channel, operated since 2017, has played a leading role in the "popularization of welding." On this channel, CEO Jo appears personally in the content to provide information related to welding. Despite covering the unfamiliar topic of welding, the channel has secured 22,000 subscribers.
In particular, it received positive responses by introducing overseas welding machines that are hard to find domestically. The "multi-functional welder" content, which shows how one welding machine can perform argon welding, plasma welding, and cutting, recorded 820,000 views. The portable carbon dioxide welder content achieved 540,000 views.
CEO Jo said, "If you have a welding machine at home, you can easily fix a broken steel metal chair, reattach a house door, or quickly make a shelf. When I first started YouTube, it was very difficult to find welding-related content, but recently, more people seem interested in welding technology."
Most of the products featured on YouTube are actually sold by Seda Welding Machines. Recently, they opened a "YouTube shopping exclusive store" through the Cafe24 platform, using the store to encourage purchases within the YouTube channel and increase sales. Seventy percent of the company's total sales come from YouTube, including the exclusive store.
CEO Jo stated, "There is a noticeable increase in purchases because customers can move directly to the purchase page of the welding machine they are interested in within the video, without having to separately search for products on search portals or look for sales channels. Even when buying the same foreign-made welding machines, customers tend to trust and buy welding machines guaranteed by our brand rather than going through complicated and less trustworthy overseas direct purchases."
The strength of Seda Welding Machines lies in specializing exclusively in "welding machines." Even for the same welding machine, they review every detail as thoroughly as possible, and CEO Jo personally guides customers on how to repair them via video calls, providing meticulous AS services for all welding machines sold.
In the future, Seda Welding Machines plans to expand its product lineup to industrial equipment and generators. CEO Jo said, "We plan to continuously promote new products with good content and connect them to sales," adding, "We want to firmly establish Seda Welding Machines as the 'national welding machine' that everyone thinks of when they want to buy a welding machine."
