Lee Gaeho Appointed as Advisor to Gwangju-Jeonnam Residents' Association

“A Bridge Connecting Hometowns and Residents”

Lee Gaeho Appointed as Advisor to Gwangju-Jeonnam Residents' Association Lee Gaeho, Member of the National Assembly.

Lee Gaeho, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea representing Damyang, Hampyeong, Yeonggwang, and Jangseong in South Jeolla Province, has been appointed as an advisor to the Gwangju-Jeonnam City and Provincial Residents' Association, an organization representing five million people from Gwangju and Jeonnam living outside the region.

Recently, Lee attended the Gwangju-Jeonnam City and Provincial Residents' Association New Year's gathering at The Riverside Hotel in Seoul, where he received the letter of appointment as advisor from Chairman Yang Gwangyong.

Since being elected to the National Assembly, Lee has demonstrated exceptional affection for his hometown by attending major events such as the association's regular general meetings and year-end and New Year gatherings, as well as various other meetings, serving as a bridge between his hometown and fellow residents living in the capital area.

When the Gwangju-Jeonnam City and Provincial Residents' Association was designated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs as a support organization for urban-rural exchange under the name 'Hyangu-Nongchon-Sangsaeng-Yeondae,' Lee, as a former Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, provided advice and made efforts to unite and support Gwangju and Jeonnam natives whenever major regional issues arose.

At the end of last year, Lee was awarded the 'Proud Gwangju-Jeonnam Citizen Award' by the association, in recognition of his contribution to preventing the extinction of rural areas through the implementation of the Hometown Love Donation Act, which he sponsored in the 21st National Assembly, thereby enhancing the honor and pride of the people of Gwangju and Jeonnam.

On the 17th, Lee stated, "I will do my best to help the association become more active and strengthen its status through the participation and unity of its members," and added, "I will also support the association at the National Assembly level so that it can actively promote exchange projects connecting cities and rural areas as the Hyangu-Nongchon-Sangsaeng-Yeondae."
