The government supports the re-establishment of companies holding excellent intellectual property rights (IP).
The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 17th that they will recruit re-entrepreneurs to participate in the ‘2025 Re-Challenge Success Package IP Strategy Type’ project from the 19th of this month to the 11th of next month.
The Re-Challenge Success Package is a project that discovers and supports prospective re-entrepreneurs or companies within 7 years of re-establishment who have business experience and excellent items. Selected companies can receive support worth up to 100 million KRW, including commercialization funds, re-establishment education, and mentoring.
In particular, the ‘Re-Challenge Success Package IP Strategy Type’ additionally supports KIPO’s ‘Innovation through Patents’ program together with the Re-Challenge Success Package (1+1 support). Through this, companies can simultaneously receive problem-solving solutions at the IP productization stage from KIPO and prototype production, application fees, and mentoring from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The ‘Innovation through Patents’ program helps solve problems that arise during the challenge of productization through IP using internal and external intellectual property information, and supports new product planning, product advancement, and design improvement strategy establishment.
Re-entrepreneurs wishing to participate in the project can apply online through the K-Startup website.
Kim Jeong-gyun, Director of the Industrial Property Policy Bureau at KIPO, said, “To succeed as a re-entrepreneur, it is essential to secure solutions and funds to resolve problems revealed in the existing business,” adding, “KIPO plans to strengthen support so that companies challenging re-establishment can make a leap forward based on IP.”
