Yongin City Conducts Safety Inspection for Children Commuting to School Ahead of New Semester

Intensive Crackdown on Illegal Parking and Stopping
Expansion of Safety Facilities for School Routes

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 14th that it will conduct safety inspections and repairs of road and traffic safety facilities on school routes to ensure the safety of children ahead of the new school term.

Along with inspection activities, the city will intensively crack down on traffic violations such as illegal parking, speeding, and signal violations on roads around schools, and produce and distribute promotional materials covering unsignalized intersections, right turns, and pedestrian safety within school zones.

In addition, the city will investigate the actual conditions of school zones and identify problems and improvements in sections exposed to traffic accidents for supplementation.

This year, the city will also expand safety facilities through the school zone improvement project. The city plans to newly install 10 pedestrian signal automatic extension systems, 35 remaining time indicators, 18 LED floor signals, and 6 speed and signal violation enforcement cameras. Furthermore, the city intends to install at least one red remaining time indicator at each of the 106 school zones around elementary schools in the area and expand stop signs at unsignalized intersections.
